Three major high street banks, Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, all part of Lloyds Banking Group, have announced the closure of 71 branches next year due to the increasing trend of online banking. The list comprises 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. Customers affected by the closures have alternative banking options available.
For everyday banking needs, customers of Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland can utilize branches across these three banks. Additionally, they can locate nearby “banking hubs” established in shared public spaces on the high street.
A spokesperson from Lloyds Banking Group highlighted the shift in banking preferences, with over 21 million customers opting for apps to manage their finances. The group aims to provide enhanced digital convenience while maintaining personal customer service. Customers can also conduct their banking activities at Post Offices or deposit cash at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
