A total of 451 postcode areas have activated Cold Weather Payments due to snow and freezing conditions impacting various parts of the UK.
Warnings for yellow snow and ice have been issued in southwest England, northern England, eastern England, and Wales. These conditions may render individuals eligible for winter payments when temperatures plummet.
Cold Weather Payments, valued at £25 each, are granted whenever the average temperature in a specific area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days.
