A popular chain of pharmacies on the high street has stepped in to rescue 60 branches of a competing firm facing financial difficulties. Allied Pharmacies has assumed control of the management of these 60 Jhoots Pharmacies locations, most of which are currently closed. However, Allied has pledged to restore essential pharmacy services at these branches.

This acquisition expands Allied’s network to approximately 210 branches throughout England and Wales. The company has expressed its firm commitment to reestablishing pharmaceutical services promptly at the newly acquired sites.

The move comes as a response to concerns raised by Members of Parliament regarding the closure of Jhoots pharmacies, which could result in communities losing access to vital healthcare services. Reports indicate that staff at Jhoots pharmacies have faced financial challenges, including delayed payments.

The Jhoots Pharmacies are owned by brothers Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty. Manjit Jhooty, who oversees over 20 Jhoots branches, has assured that his businesses are financially stable and continue to serve their local communities effectively. On the other hand, Sarbjit Jhooty has acknowledged workforce and recruitment issues and is actively working to address them.

Representatives from Jhoots have not provided comments on the recent developments. This acquisition marks a significant consolidation in the pharmacy sector, with Allied playing a crucial role in preserving access to healthcare services in various communities.
