“Early Christmas Decorations Spark Joy and Controversy”

Share

For this year, I have opted to display my Christmas decorations earlier than usual. Often, individuals face criticism when they choose to do this and share it on social media without any particular reason. However, as anyone familiar with social media knows, it’s impossible to please everyone, so prioritizing one’s own happiness is key!

The rationale behind my early decorating decision this year is due to the close proximity of my birthday to Christmas, only six days apart, followed by my partner’s birthday three days later. Consequently, we often find ourselves away from home during the holiday season.

By setting up the decorations at the beginning of December, we typically have a brief period to revel in their beauty. Given how visually appealing they are, it would be a shame not to maximize our enjoyment of them.

Furthermore, amidst the current barrage of negative news worldwide, I firmly believe that if something as simple as Christmas decorations can spark immense joy, there’s no reason not to put them up sooner!

This act neither harms nor offends anyone (and if it does, that’s on them!), so I fail to see any negative consequences.

Moreover, since many of us spend significant time at home, decorating is a cost-effective way to brighten your day without incurring any additional expenses (assuming you already possess a tree and decorations).

Despite potential mockery, adorning the house with decorations is an enjoyable and entertaining activity in itself, especially when accompanied by a glass of mulled wine or a comforting hot chocolate.

You can immerse yourself in Christmas music, dance around the living room, and simply unwind.

As Christmas advertisements flood the airwaves and festive markets emerge nationwide, the approach of December 25 becomes increasingly apparent. In such moments, joining in the holiday spirit seems inevitable, so why resist it?

Unpacking the decorations accumulated over the years evokes a warm, nostalgic feeling, particularly when ornaments with sentimental value are involved.

We unpacked baubles collected from various vacations, handmade ones from friends, and of course, the iconic Jellycat decorations that epitomize our tree.

At a local festive makers market, we acquired a fresh wreath to adorn our door, proudly becoming the first residence on our street to do so – setting a trend in the neighborhood!

If you’re feeling like a modern-day Scrooge and require a mood boost, I encourage you to embrace the festive spirit.

Turn up the holiday tunes by Michael Bublé, Mariah Carey, and Kelly Clarkson, and allow the magic of Christmas to uplift your spirits. Rest assured, you won’t regret it!
