“ABC Drops Glenn McGrath as Commentator Over Betting Link”

Glenn McGrath, the renowned former Australian cricketer, has been removed as a commentator by ABC, the host broadcaster, due to his association with a betting company. McGrath, known as one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, has been a familiar face during the Ashes matches in recent times.

Having claimed 563 wickets in 124 Test matches for Australia, the 55-year-old McGrath was a dominant force against England in the Ashes series. Despite his success, ABC has decided not to utilize him as a pundit and commentator, although he will still be part of the BBC Test Match Special team.

ABC stated that they have mutually parted ways with McGrath for the current Ashes series, citing his upcoming collaboration with Bet365 as the reason for the decision. This move follows a similar action taken previously by ABC against former Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson.

McGrath will continue to play a significant role in the BBC’s coverage of the Ashes, including providing live radio commentary and appearing in highlight shows alongside other cricket experts. In his signature style, McGrath has boldly predicted a 5-0 victory for the Australian team, highlighting the strength of their bowling attack and England’s historical struggles in Australia.
