Share

A Ryanair flight bound for Tenerife had to turn back to the UK after encountering a mid-air emergency. The Boeing 737 MAX departed from Birmingham Airport and raised a 7700 squawk signal over France due to air turbulence. Passengers reported injuries during the incident, prompting the flight to return and descend to a lower altitude.

The aircraft safely landed back at Birmingham Airport approximately one hour and 32 minutes after takeoff. It was parked at a remote stand for medical assistance to be provided to passengers. The extent of injuries sustained by passengers is still unknown.

Ryanair confirmed the incident, stating that flight FR1121 returned to Birmingham Airport shortly after takeoff due to air turbulence. Some passengers received medical assistance before the flight resumed to Tenerife later that evening.

This incident follows a similar event involving a United Airlines flight diverting to Edinburgh in December. The United Airlines flight, en route to San Francisco, landed in Edinburgh following an onboard emergency caused by a burning smell. The airline arranged accommodations and alternative flights for the 162 passengers onboard.
