A recent severe weather event has led to the closure of a fourth major airport in Europe. Budapest Airport cited safety concerns due to black ice and extreme icing as the reason for its temporary shutdown. The airport later reopened with both runways operational. Vienna Airport in Austria also faced temporary closure because of icy conditions, causing flight disruptions. Bratislava Airport in Slovakia briefly closed earlier but resumed operations with ongoing delays. Václav Havel Airport in Prague announced limited operations due to freezing rain, resulting in flight delays. Eventually, the airport returned to normal operations, albeit with expected delays and some cancellations. The weather system affecting central and eastern Europe has brought snow and freezing rain, causing widespread icy conditions and airport disruptions. The situation follows recent weather-related airport closures in the UK due to Storm Goretit. Additionally, extreme cold in northern Finland led to flight cancellations, leaving tourists stranded.
