A young woman who deliberately struck and killed her boyfriend had previously sent him menacing messages, including one where she suggested he should “kiss the devil.”
Geovanna Proque da Silva, a 21-year-old veterinary medicine student, is facing accusations of causing the deaths of Raphael Canuto da Costa, 21, and Joyce Correa da Silva, 19, in an incident of jealousy on a street in the Parque Regina area of Sao Paolo, Brazil, on December 28. The tragic event, captured on CCTV, occurred when the victims were on a scooter and were rear-ended by a vehicle around 3am.
Just a day before the fatal collision, Silva, who was attending a party, allegedly sent threatening messages to Costa, whom she had been in a brief relationship with, telling him to “kiss the devil” and threatening to harm him.
Silva is currently in police custody awaiting trial for the murders of her former boyfriend and his friend. Authorities claim that her actions were fueled by jealousy towards her ex-boyfriend. Witnesses reported that she had made threats towards Costa during a barbecue on December 27, warning him that she would harm him.
According to reports, Silva expressed feelings of loneliness and frustration towards Costa in text messages, with one message telling him to “kiss the devil” and another stating that she was angry. She allegedly continued to send threats to people at a party, including Costa’s female friends, whom she had no romantic involvement with.
Dr. Gabrielle Schneid de Pinho, Silva’s stepmother, mentioned that Silva suffered from psychiatric disorders and was undergoing treatment for depression and bipolar disorder. Pinho also indicated that Silva had relationship issues with Raphael, citing feelings of betrayal and jealousy as contributing factors.
On the night of the incident, Silva reportedly followed Costa and his friend before engaging in a high-speed chase that led to the fatal collision. Witnesses claimed that Silva callously referred to one of the victims as a “slut” after the tragic event.
The incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about the impact of jealousy and emotional instability on relationships.
