Axel Clavier, a 16-year-old survivor of a tragic fire at a Swiss ski resort, narrowly escaped death by using a table to break a window and flee the blazing bar. The fire erupted in the early hours at Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, causing multiple casualties and injuring over 100 people who were trapped inside. Axel recounted the chaos inside the bar and how he managed to push a plexiglass window out to make his escape, while sadly revealing that his friends did not make it out alive. Another witness described the harrowing experience of being trapped in the smoke-filled bar and having to break a window to find a way out. Both survivors mentioned seeing waitresses carrying champagne bottles into the bar before the fire broke out.
Switzerland’s President, Guy Parmelin, described the incident as one of the country’s worst tragedies, acknowledging the profound impact on the lives of the survivors and the families of the victims. The fire, which caught hold suddenly, has left a lasting mark on all those affected, with condolences extended to those who lost their lives and their loved ones.
