Apple has had a hectic week, unveiling a range of new products. Among them are the iPhone 17e, upgraded iPad Air, and new MacBook Pro models featuring the latest M5 processors. Now, Apple has revealed another surprise – a budget-friendly laptop.
Introducing the MacBook Neo, boasting a vibrant design, impressive performance, and a high-resolution 13-inch screen, all for just £599. This marks the first time you can own a Mac for under £600.
With a price tag £500 lower than the latest MacBook Air, the Neo is powered by Apple’s A18 Pro-series smartphone processor. While not as fast as M-powered PCs, it can easily handle your daily digital tasks, running macOS and providing access to popular applications like Microsoft Word, Pages, and iMovie.
The MacBook Neo offers exceptional battery life, lasting over 15 hours on a single charge. It includes two USB-C ports but lacks MagSafe charging.
Additional features consist of a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, Touch ID fingerprint scanner, dual side-firing speakers supporting Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, a Magic Keyboard, Multi-Touch trackpad, and comes in Silver, Indigo, Blush, and Citrus color options.
Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo are now open, with availability in stores starting next week.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, expressed excitement about the new product, stating, “We’re incredibly excited to introduce MacBook Neo, which delivers the magic of the Mac at a breakthrough price. Built from the ground up to be more affordable for even more people, MacBook Neo is a laptop only Apple could create. It features a durable aluminum design in four beautiful colors; a brilliant Liquid Retina display; Apple silicon-powered performance; all-day battery life; a high-quality camera, mics, and speakers; a Magic Keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad; and the intuitive and powerful features of macOS. There is simply no other laptop like it.”
