A large number of apps and services typically require a monthly fee for their usage, and now it appears that WhatsApp may be introducing a similar approach. The team at WABetaInfo has noticed that the chat application owned by Meta is working on a new feature called WhatsApp Plus.
This upgrade is expected to provide exclusive updates and features, such as the ability to pin up to 20 chats (up from the current limit of 3) and enhanced customization options like changing the app theme, icon, and accent colors. Additionally, users may have access to bonus stickers, extra ringtones, and more immersive reactions for chat replies.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a new premium subscription plan called “WhatsApp Plus” that will offer additional features in exchange for a monthly fee. This plan is currently in development for both Android and iOS platforms and has not been officially released yet.
In addition to the initial enhancements, it is speculated that Meta could introduce more features over time for users willing to pay for them. While WhatsApp has not confirmed these reports, test versions of the Plus app have been discovered by WABetaInfo, indicating ongoing development.
It is important to note that the free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be obligated to pay for the premium features. The optional subscription is intended to provide a bonus for users who are willing to pay a monthly fee.
More information about WhatsApp Plus is expected to be revealed in the near future. Stay tuned for updates.
