Scottie Scheffler has entered the elite $100 million club alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy following a strong start to his season with a commanding victory at The American Express tournament. As the current world No.1, Scheffler has signaled his intentions to challenge for Major titles this year.
Sidelined last year in January due to a hand injury from a broken wine glass incident during Christmas, Scheffler has swiftly bounced back in 2026 with an impressive performance in California, finishing at 27-under par with a final round score of six-under 66 to secure a four-shot win. This victory marks his 20th win on the PGA Tour in the last four years, granting him a lifetime membership.
With earnings of $1.656 million from this win, Scheffler has surpassed the $100 million mark in on-course earnings, joining the ranks of Woods and McIlroy. At 29, Scheffler has also matched Woods and Jack Nicklaus as one of the few players to achieve 20 PGA Tour titles and four majors before turning 30.
Reflecting on his achievements, Scheffler humbly acknowledged the honor of being compared to legends like Woods and Nicklaus, emphasizing the importance of staying focused and prepared. Since claiming his first victory at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, Scheffler has outperformed McIlroy with 11 additional wins, showcasing remarkable consistency in recent events.
Jason Day, the joint runner-up, praised Scheffler’s remarkable performance, likening his dominance to that of Tiger Woods. Despite his current success, Scheffler remains determined to improve further, especially after a slow start last season. The young golfer’s confidence in his abilities hints at even greater accomplishments ahead as he prepares for upcoming challenges, including the Masters tournament in April.
Teenager Blades Brown also made an impression during the tournament, expressing awe at witnessing Scheffler’s victory firsthand. Brown, just 18 years old, shared his excitement at playing alongside Scheffler and gaining valuable experience from the event.
As Scheffler continues to raise the bar in the world of golf, his relentless drive and pursuit of excellence serve as a reminder of the dedication and talent required to succeed at the highest level of the sport.
