A prominent online beauty retailer is reportedly considering a sale as advisors have been engaged to evaluate the company’s operations. Beauty Bay, established in 1999 by Arron and David Gabbie in Manchester, offers a wide range of products from over 200 brands, including popular names like Ariana Grande, Clinique, MAC, and its own product line.
According to a recent report by Sky News, Beauty Bay is exploring various options to secure new financing, with a potential sale of the business being one of the considerations. Interpath, an advisory firm, is collaborating with Beauty Bay on this matter. The company, which currently employs 65 individuals, has been approached by Mirror for comments.
In a recent development, Malin + Goetz, another beauty brand, has gone into administration, leading to the closure of all seven of its stores in London. This decision will affect more than 70 jobs, with online orders currently on hold. While their website is temporarily unavailable for orders, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers like Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.
A spokesperson from Malin + Goetz informed TheIndustry.beauty that due to a thorough business review and after exploring all feasible options, the UK operations have been placed under administration, resulting in store closures and job losses. The brand, founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, started with a small product range catering to all skin types and has since expanded into fragrance, body care, and other beauty segments.
The website of Malin + Goetz is expected to resume operations after a brief maintenance period, although the exact duration is currently unknown.
