A tragic incident unfolded as a newlywed woman survived a motorway crash only to meet a fatal end when a lorry collided with her as she exited the overturned vehicle. The woman, identified as Samara Prado Martins, 24, had recently tied the knot with her husband Thiago Oliveira Martins. The accident occurred on December 29 in Ponta Grossa, Parana, Brazil.
According to authorities, the couple’s car overturned on the BR-376 motorway’s hard shoulder. Although they managed to escape the vehicle, they were struck by a passing lorry that failed to stop in time. Sadly, Samara lost her life at the crash site, while her husband was rescued and airlifted to a hospital in Ponta Grossa in critical condition.
Family members disclosed that the couple was returning from the beach and were alone in their car during the tragic event. Samara’s parents, brother, and sister-in-law, who were traveling in a separate vehicle, turned back upon learning of the accident. The lorry driver emerged unscathed, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the initial crash.
Samara’s body is set to be laid to rest in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, where friends and well-wishers have taken to social media to pay tribute to her and offer support to her grieving family.
