Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, which may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor improperly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This defect could compromise the performance of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to passengers. Stellantis has reported one injury possibly linked to the recall but no fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Affected vehicle owners will be notified to contact dealerships for inspection arrangements. Dealers will examine the second-row seat belt buckle anchors and ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
