In southern Manitoba, authorities are investigating the death of a four-year-old girl and the severe injuries sustained by two toddlers at a residence, which is being treated as suspicious, according to RCMP. Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers responded to a call at a home in Long Plain First Nation after emergency personnel reported a young child in medical distress with injuries around 8 a.m. on Sunday, as per an RCMP news release issued on Tuesday. The four-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. Additionally, two other children, aged one and two, were transported to the hospital. One child was initially in critical condition, while the other was stable; both are now in stable condition. Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the four-year-old and the serious injuries to the two other children, RCMP have taken charge of the investigation. Supt. Rob Lasson, overseeing Manitoba RCMP major crime services, expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that the community will seek answers regarding the events within the household. Lasson emphasized that the RCMP, in collaboration with MFNPS and community leaders, are diligently working to address the situation and support the residents of Long Plain during this challenging time.
