Nick Reiner was formally charged on July 20 with two counts of first-degree murder related to the deaths of his renowned filmmaker and activist father, Rob Reiner, and his mother, Michele, an accomplished photographer and producer. Despite his documented struggles with mental health and addiction, Nick pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The indictment, unveiled on August 12 by the LA County grand jury, alleged that Nick had premeditated the attack on his parents. This tragic turn of events starkly contrasts with the collaborative work Rob and Nick Reiner had done together, including the 2016 film “Being Charlie,” inspired by Nick’s personal battles with addiction.
