Dollyfest, an anticipated music festival celebrating the iconic Dolly Parton’s life, is scheduled for 2027 without her presence. Originally planned to coincide with Parton’s 80th birthday in January, the festival was postponed due to health issues last September. However, Parton’s estate has confirmed that the “star-studded” festival will take place in Nashville and London over two consecutive weekends next year.
The passing of the “Queen of Country” at the age of 80 last week left numerous grieving fans. Parton was renowned for her hit songs like “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “9 to 5,” as well as for her humor, rhinestones, and extensive philanthropic work.
Dollyfest organizers promise that the event will be a memorable celebration reflecting Parton’s vibrant personality. While specific dates and musical acts for the festival remain undisclosed, the organizers aim to fulfill Parton’s vision and provide a platform for global artists and fans to participate in the festivities while allowing time for mourning and planning.
Nashville and London hold significance for Parton, as she resided in Nashville before her passing and frequently performed in London, including at Wembley Arena during her initial international tour.
Apart from Dollyfest, various tributes honoring Parton have emerged since her passing. Dollywood, the theme park she transformed into a popular attraction, announced plans to introduce several additions commemorating the legendary singer. Guests visiting the park will have the opportunity to share their memories of Parton in special kiosks at Wildwood Grove, with the park incorporating these testimonials into the exhibit. Additionally, new features inspired by Parton’s legacy, such as a waterfall near the Robert F. Thomas Chapel and a park character reflecting the Imagination Library initiative, have been added.
A memorial wall outside Dollywood, adorned with flowers and tributes, will remain in place indefinitely to allow fans to pay their respects in a meaningful manner. Moreover, Parton’s hometown of Sevierville, Tenn., in collaboration with Dollywood, is launching “In Dolly’s Footsteps,” a city-wide project featuring walking-tour markers highlighting key venues in Parton’s life story, including The Pines Theatre where she performed her first show at the age of 10.
