Swedish pole vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has collaborated with World Athletics to release a new song titled “Gold” in anticipation of the inaugural Ultimate Championship. The event, set to take place in Budapest from September 11-13, features a substantial prize pool of $10 million USD and will bring together top athletes, including Olympic, world, and Diamond League champions, across three evening sessions. Winners of individual events will receive $150,000 in prize money.

Duplantis, a two-time Olympic champion and world-record holder, expressed his passion for music by co-writing “Gold” with Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase. The track, produced by Chase, signifies a collective representation beyond individual achievements, reflecting the unity and spirit of sports and music. The music video for the song, shot in Budapest, includes nostalgic footage of Duplantis as a young athlete.

In a statement, Duplantis emphasized the song’s theme of representing a greater cause while competing, highlighting the unifying power of music and sports. He views music as a form of therapy and a welcome distraction from the world of sports. During the Ultimate Championship, “Gold” will be integrated into the event’s broadcast and live experience, connecting fans globally and enhancing the overall atmosphere.

As a special moment, Duplantis is set to perform “Gold” live at the championship’s closing ceremony. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe praised Duplantis for creating the Ultimate Anthem, emphasizing the event’s focus on showcasing the talents and passions of prominent athletes both on and off the track. The Ultimate Championship is slated to be held biennially, promising a platform for athletes to shine and unite through their shared love for sports and music.
