Concerns have arisen about the future of certain characters in the highly anticipated sequel of Devil Wears Prada 2 as filming activities commence. This follows the sighting of two original cast members participating in a scene in New York during the ongoing production.
In June, it was revealed that the sequel to the 2006 film Devil Wears Prada had entered production, with an expected release date next year. The new movie is set to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original film, which was adapted from the 2003 novel of the same name.
Apart from introducing fresh faces, key characters from the first film will be making a comeback for the sequel. The actors portraying these characters have been actively involved in the project in the United States recently following the commencement of filming.
The returning ensemble includes Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reprising their roles as Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs respectively. They will be joined by Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.
Recent photos depict Anne, aged 42, and Stanley, aged 64, filming scenes together in Central Park. The co-stars were observed strolling arm in arm through the park in New York City, accompanied by the film crew.
During the shoot, Anne, portraying Andy, was attired in a black dress, a long coat, and heels, accessorized with a matching handbag and sunglasses. On the other hand, Stanley, in character as Nigel, the art director of Runway magazine, donned a dark suit and matching shoes, occasionally holding an umbrella while filming.
Rumors suggest that the filming involved a funeral scene, although this remains unconfirmed. Fans have been speculating about the storyline, particularly questioning whether Miranda or Emily might meet their demise.
After the shoot, social media buzzed with comments speculating on the characters’ fate, with one person exclaiming, “Miranda dead?!?” and another expressing, “Please don’t tell me Miranda died.” The possibility of Emily’s character meeting a tragic end was also pondered by someone else.
Furthermore, fans have raised the idea of another character, Irv Ravitz, potentially facing mortality in the sequel. One fan suggested, “It’s gotta be Irv.” However, concrete details about the plot, including the existence of a funeral scene, are yet to be officially disclosed.
In addition to the original cast, the Devil Wears Prada 2 will feature new additions such as Kenneth Branagh and Lucy Liu.
