Aldi has announced plans to enhance over 20 of its stores by the year’s end. Among these, the Barrow-in-Furness store in Cumbria and the Ebbw Vale store in Wales are set to undergo extensions. Additionally, 21 other Aldi stores will receive upgrades such as improved layouts, refreshed fixtures, and enhanced sustainability features.
The supermarket chain has already revamped more than 500 stores, introducing modernized layouts, expanded space for fresh and chilled items, and wider aisles. Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing top-notch shopping experiences for customers through ongoing investments in store improvements.
In line with its expansion strategy, Aldi plans to open approximately 40 new branches in the UK this year, working towards a long-term goal of reaching 1,500 stores. The retailer has identified priority locations for new store openings, aiming for sites that can accommodate stores with specific size requirements and convenient access.
Aldi is also seeking suitable locations for its Aldi Local store format in Central London zones one and two. Mr. Neale highlighted Aldi’s commitment to offering high-quality products at competitive prices, expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming store openings and renovations that will enhance the overall customer experience.
