A man was discovered deceased in an apartment just days before Christmas, prompting the initiation of a murder investigation. Authorities responded to a safety concern report at George Toon Court on Brook Street, Syston, where they found an unresponsive man in his 40s. Despite efforts by paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Leicestershire Police have confirmed suspicions of an assault within the flat.
In connection with the incident, a 49-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Investigators have established a cordon in the area and are actively engaging with residents while reviewing CCTV footage to track the victim’s movements leading up to the tragic event.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, leading the investigation, stated, “Our team of detectives, along with specialized resources and local officers, are diligently piecing together the details of this case. The incident is believed to have occurred inside the George Toon Court flat yesterday morning. The victim and the detained individual are acquainted, and while early in our inquiry, we currently have no other suspects in mind.”
