Coleen Nolan recently shared her feelings of sorrow during the holiday season, following the passing of her sister, Linda Nolan. This year, Coleen faces her first Christmas without Linda, who tragically passed away in January after a battle with cancer that led to pneumonia.
In a recent interview, the Loose Women star expressed how challenging it will be to celebrate Christmas without her sister, noting Linda’s vibrant presence at family gatherings. Coleen reminisced about their family tradition of coming together on Christmas Day at their parents’ home, a tradition that has evolved over the years with the passing of their parents and the growth of their own families.
Regarding their Christmas plans, Coleen mentioned that the family tries to reunite during the holiday season or in the period between Christmas and New Year’s Day. She emphasized the void left by Linda’s absence, highlighting her role as the heart of family gatherings.
Linda’s battle with cancer began in 2005 with a diagnosis of breast cancer, followed by secondary cancer in her pelvis and hip bone in 2017. Subsequently, the cancer spread to her liver and later to her brain, leading to her passing. Despite the challenges, Linda’s sister Maureen Nolan clarified that cancer was not the direct cause of her death but rather complications from pneumonia.
The Nolan family has faced multiple cancer diagnoses over the years, with Coleen revealing her own battle with skin cancer in the past. Despite the family’s history with the disease, Coleen remains optimistic and determined to seek treatment for any health concerns.
While Coleen mourns the absence of her late sisters this holiday season, she finds solace in the arrival of two new grandsons in her life. Her son Shane Nolan and his partner Kimberley welcomed their first child in November, followed by her daughter Ciara’s firstborn, bringing joy and new beginnings to the family.
