“Upgrade Your Broadband to Full Fibre Now!”

Share

Now is a great opportunity to review your broadband connection and implement some straightforward upgrades. BT’s Openreach network has recently confirmed that numerous households now have access to faster full fibre technology, yet a significant number have not made the transition to this advanced platform.

Statistics indicate that approximately 20 million homes and businesses are now equipped with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) technology, capable of delivering internet speeds exceeding 700Mbps – a remarkable tenfold increase over traditional copper wire connections.

Despite the widespread availability of this service in many neighborhoods, a large portion of users have not yet made the switch. Openreach reports that only around 38% of eligible households have opted for full fibre, leaving millions still reliant on slower and less dependable connections. For example, a 500Mbps connection can download a full HD movie in under two minutes, in contrast to the nearly 10 minutes required with standard copper wires.

Clive Selley, Chief Executive of Openreach, emphasized the importance of digital connectivity in today’s world, stating, “In 2025, being online isn’t a luxury – it’s a lifeline. From booking GP appointments to applying for jobs, accessing education and launching businesses, digital connectivity is the gateway to opportunity.”

To determine if full fibre is available in your area, it is advisable to check your postcode promptly for potential upgrades. Despite common beliefs, the cost of Full Fibre services has decreased in recent years, with high-speed packages now available for under £30 per month, potentially offering better value compared to slower copper alternatives.

Here are some broadband pricing options available via Openreach cables:
– Sky 300Mbps – £29 per month
– EE 150Mbps – £28.99 per month
– BT 300Mbps – £32.99 per month

While Openreach is a prominent broadband provider, it is essential to consider other options in the market, including alternative providers like Community Fibre, Hyperoptic, Virgin Media, and CityFibre, each with their own network infrastructure.
