Police have unveiled an image of a person of interest following an incident where an individual armed with a hammer and knife broke into a residence and attacked a man and woman. The authorities are currently present at the location in the Chippendale Avenue vicinity of Bangor, Co Down, Northern Ireland, after the assault occurred on Christmas Eve, resulting in injuries to two individuals. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has cautioned the public against approaching the individual in question, described as approximately 5ft 10in tall, with short dark hair, dressed in a blue hoodie, grey coat, dark T-shirt, blue jeans, and dark trainers with white soles.
A spokesperson for the police force disclosed, “Around 3.30pm yesterday, Wednesday 24th December, law enforcement received a report about an armed man entering a residential property and attacking a woman in her 50s and a man in his 20s with a hammer and knife before departing the scene on foot while still armed.”
The injured parties were swiftly taken to a medical facility for treatment, with one individual previously reported to be in critical condition by the authorities.
“The investigation is currently ongoing, and measures are being taken to locate the individual of interest,” stated the PSNI representative. “We urge the public not to engage with him if spotted but instead maintain a safe distance and promptly contact law enforcement at 101, referencing case number 914 of 24/12/25.”
