Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Top Aide Resigns

Share

A top aide to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has resigned from her position in less than a year.

The couple’s main communications officer, Meredith Maines, has left her role after a 10-month tenure, according to a report by People magazine. This departure comes after the Sussexes reportedly lost 10 aides following their decision to step back from their royal duties and relocate to California over five years ago.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has confirmed the recent change, stating, “Meredith Maines and Method Communications have completed their work with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The couple appreciates their contributions and wishes them well.”

In a personal statement, Ms. Maines expressed gratitude for her time working with Prince Harry and Meghan, mentioning her plans to pursue a new opportunity in 2026. She commended the couple and their team for the positive impact they are making in the world through their initiatives.

Ms. Maines collaborated with Method Communications, an external agency supporting the couple’s communications efforts, focusing primarily on the duchess’ public relations. Meanwhile, Liam Maguire, the Sussexes’ communications director for the UK and Europe, continues in his role, primarily handling Prince Harry’s communications.

Upon her appointment, Ms. Maines had expressed her enthusiasm for partnering with the couple and aiding in sharing their narrative as entrepreneurs, builders, and philanthropists. She was responsible for overseeing all communications related to the couple and their ventures.

In recent years, several other members of the communications team have also departed. Emily Robinson, who was brought on board in June as the director of communications for Harry and Meghan, resigned just three months later. Additionally, the Sussexes’ global press secretary, Ashley Hansen, left her position after two years to establish her consultancy. Previous exits include UK-based staffer Charlie Gipson and California-based team member Kyle Boulia.
