A tragic incident unfolded during a Christmas dinner in Jaguariúna, Brazil, where a man, Leandro Flaeschen Moreira, was fatally stabbed by his girlfriend’s son, Caio César dos Santos Bartolomeu, just moments after sharing a holiday kiss. The 41-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after the sudden attack. The 18-year-old suspect was apprehended at the scene.
Reports suggest that Bartolomeu disapproved of his mother Sidneia Gonçalves dos Santos’ relationship with Leandro. The violent episode occurred when, at midnight, Sidneia wished Leandro a ‘Merry Christmas,’ prompting him to kiss her, leading Bartolomeu to draw a hidden knife from his pocket and commit the stabbing. Sidneia also sustained injuries while trying to restrain her son.
The shocking incident was witnessed by Leandro’s 16-year-old daughter, who has been placed in temporary foster care by Child Protective Services. Bartolomeu fled the scene and allegedly perpetrated three more stabbings in the neighborhood before being detained by the authorities.
An investigation into the homicide and bodily harm has been initiated by the police. Bartolomeu, who was initially considered unfit for questioning due to his injuries and medication effects, is scheduled for a police interview following medical treatment. Sidneia and the other victims received urgent medical attention, while Leandro’s body was sent for autopsy.
This tragedy comes shortly after a devastating Christmas Eve car crash in the same state claimed the lives of five family members, including two children. Luís Carlos de Souza Pinheiro, Paula Daniela Martins, their children, and Paula’s sister perished in the accident. The driver of the BMW involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the crash.
