Benjamin Satterley, a prominent English professional wrestler and key figure in the U.S.-based All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has passed away at the age of 40. AEW confirmed the news of Satterley’s death, known by his ring name Pac, through their social media platforms on Sunday evening. The company did not disclose the cause of his death. Satterley had appeared on television the night before, engaging in a match against Andrade el Idolo in Chicago.
Recognized for his innovative high-flying maneuvers and exceptional in-ring skills, Satterley, also a multiple AEW Championship holder, participated in some of the most memorable bouts in AEW’s history. A statement released by the company expressed condolences to Satterley’s family, friends, and supporters.
Hailing from Newcastle, England, Satterley launched his wrestling career in 2004 in the U.K. before venturing into various independent wrestling circuits globally, including Japan and Mexico. He swiftly gained acclaim among wrestling enthusiasts for his distinct blend of acrobatic, high-flying moves and muscular physique.
Initiating his wrestling journey at 18, inspired by his aunt’s passion for WWF, Satterley later joined World Wrestling Entertainment from 2012 to 2018 under the ring alias Adrian Neville. He prominently featured in WWE’s NXT developmental program and the cruiserweight division. Joining AEW at its establishment in 2019, Satterley engaged in matches with top talents and secured several titles, notably becoming the inaugural international champion.
Famous for his finishing move, the black arrow, a twisting corkscrew dive from the top rope, Satterley earned the moniker “The man that gravity forgot.” In the ring, he predominantly portrayed a menacing villain persona, sometimes incorporating humor into his performances. Tributes following his demise depicted him as a talented, humble individual both in and out of the ring.
Satterley’s passing marks the second loss of an AEW wrestler within a month, following the death of Andy Williams, known as The Butcher, in September. Williams, who collapsed during an independent wrestling event in Pittsburgh at the age of 48, was also a guitarist for the metalcore band Every Time I Die. Satterley, who maintained a low profile on social media, shared a photo with Williams in the locker room shortly before his passing.
The wrestling community mourns the loss of Benjamin Satterley, a remarkable talent and beloved figure whose legacy will endure in the hearts of fans and peers. May he rest in peace.
