Black Sheep, a UK-based coffee chain, has unveiled its festive Christmas menu, offering a range of bold flavors and indulgent treats alongside their signature 100% speciality-grade Robusta coffee. Today, on Wednesday November 5, the Christmas menu was officially launched, featuring a variety of winter warmers and refreshing cold options.
During a sneak peek event, I had the opportunity to sample some of the new offerings. One standout from the menu is the Mint White Chocolate Chip Matcha, especially the iced version. Described by Black Sheep as a blend of fresh mint and creamy white chocolate in a festive twist on a matcha favorite, this drink is noted for its smooth, sweet, and slightly cheeky flavor profile.
Although not typically a matcha enthusiast, I found this particular creation to be a delightful surprise. Its balanced sweetness effectively masks the usual bitterness of matcha, reminiscent of a Grasshopper cocktail, known for its minty essence and creamy components.
Another highlight from the menu is the Gingerbread Latte, a quintessential Christmas drink that exudes warmth and holiday cheer. This classic beverage, available in both hot and iced versions, combines comforting spices and gingerbread syrup with velvety espresso, creating a nostalgic winter treat that embodies the essence of the season.
In addition to the beverages, Black Sheep introduced the Fuji Apple, Ginger & Caramel Red Bull Infusion, a unique concoction inspired by toffee apples. Featuring juicy Fuji apple, fiery ginger, sweet caramel, and Red Bull, this drink offers a festive energy boost perfect for navigating the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
To complement the drinks, the menu also includes savory options like the Pigs in Blanket Ciabatta and Brie & Cranberry Toastie. While these sandwiches were tasty, they were deemed fairly standard for a coffee chain, with the real highlights being the innovative and flavorful drink selections.
