A tragic incident occurred in Mexico on Sunday when a train derailed in Asunción Ixtaltepec, Oaxaca, resulting in the loss of at least 13 lives and injuring 98 individuals. The derailment took place on the main railway line between Veracruz and Salina Cruz, with approximately 250 people aboard at the time.
Mexico’s Navy confirmed the unfortunate news, stating that 36 of the injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment. The train, part of the Interoceanic Train system connecting Mexico’s Pacific and Gulf coasts, encountered the accident while passing through the Isthmus of Teuantepec.
