A family was left feeling very let down when their plans for a Christmas Day pub meal were unexpectedly canceled. Despite making a reservation for nine people at The Saracens Head in Meir back in September, the family’s tradition of spending Christmas at the gastropub for the past five years was abruptly disrupted.
The family grew concerned when the pub did not request the usual deposit for the booking, the landlord resigned in November, and the venue temporarily closed before reopening in December. As a result, the family had to celebrate the holiday at home since it was too late to secure an alternative venue.
Expressing their disappointment, one family member mentioned that they had not been asked for the customary deposit this year, raising suspicions. Following renovations and a change in ownership, the pub informed them that they would not be hosting Christmas dinners, leaving the family uninformed due to a lack of records of their booking.
Feeling particularly let down by the lack of communication and poor customer service, the family regretted not being informed earlier so they could have made alternative arrangements. Concerned that other families might also be in a similar situation, the family member stated they have lost trust in the establishment and questioned the accountability for the oversight.
While StokeonTrentLive is awaiting an official statement from Valiant Pub Company, the pub has addressed the situation on social media, apologizing for any inconvenience caused and expressing excitement for the upcoming menu launch in the New Year following a kitchen renovation.
The establishment acknowledged the Christmas Day disappointment and reassured customers that they are working to rectify the situation by reaching out to affected individuals. They expressed gratitude for customers’ patience during this period of transition.
