Former Emmerdale actress Daisy Campbell faced a distressing situation when a stalker, identified as Lyle Cook, inundated her with unwanted gifts after tracking down her address via Google Maps. This real-life ordeal resembled a plotline from the show where her character, Amelia Spencer, was also a target of a stalker. Campbell, who appeared on Emmerdale from 2011 until recently, received money-filled envelopes, love letters, and various packages at her residence between January 2024 and February 2025. She alerted the authorities as she grappled with the unwanted attention.
In a separate incident, Cook attempted to arrange a meeting with Campbell, leading to a stalking protection order being issued against him. Cook, residing in Telford, Shropshire, confessed to stalking at the local magistrates’ court and was handed a 12-month conditional discharge along with a £161 fine. Additionally, he was prohibited from contacting Campbell for five years directly or indirectly.
A source informed The Sun that Campbell was deeply troubled by the fixation exhibited by Cook and expressed relief that legal action was taken. Campbell departed Emmerdale due to the character’s storyline limitations, despite her long tenure on the show since childhood. She disclosed feeling blindsided by the sudden exit, emphasizing her emotional attachment to the soap opera. Campbell’s character, Amelia, was scripted to relocate to Leicester following her boyfriend’s conviction for stalking.
