A fundraiser has been set up to support the family of a young child who tragically passed away after falling into a pond on Christmas Day. The toddler, Isobel, aged 2, was discovered in a garden pond shortly after wandering away from her family in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Despite immediate efforts to save her, Isobel was declared deceased at a nearby hospital.

A GoFundMe initiative has been launched by a relative named Abigail Maxwell, aiming to raise £30,000 to cover funeral expenses, counseling, and the creation of a memorial garden in honor of Isobel. The campaign has already amassed around £20,000 in donations following the heartbreaking incident.

Expressing profound sorrow, the GoFundMe page stated, “The entire family and everyone acquainted with Isobel… we are all devastated. This is an unimaginable tragedy for parents, losing their child. She was adored and cherished, and her parents provided her with a beautiful life.”

Detailing the events, the page mentioned, “We were gathered as a family, with our daughters, best friends, joyfully playing with new toys. While momentarily missing, Isobel had wandered into the garden and tragically fell into the pond, a feature necessitated by their recent house move to their forever home under renovation.”

The temporary pond in the garden was enclosed by a fence; however, it was an unforeseen accident that led to the tragedy, as Isobel would not have been able to access it unaccompanied. CPR was administered until medical help arrived, but unfortunately, Isobel could not be revived.

Describing Isobel as her daughter’s closest companion, Abigail expressed the profound loss, emphasizing that no one deserves such a tragedy, especially not Isobel’s family.

Isobel’s parents, Tamara and Aaron, wish to establish a memorial garden in her honor. Tamara, who is currently grieving while 25 weeks pregnant, will require emotional and psychological support to cope with the loss and prepare for the arrival of Isobel’s baby brother.
