A British gamer witnessed a horrifying incident as his online friend in Finland was fatally attacked in her own home while they were playing a game together. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, had been gaming with his 32-year-old Finnish friend for approximately 10 hours when he heard the sound of her window being broken. Concerned, he asked her if she had secured her door and then overheard the intruder speaking Finnish. He promptly contacted the police in Puumala, located 1,000 miles away, at 5 a.m. local time on April 23 to report the distressing event.

Authorities discovered the woman deceased in her residence the following day and initiated an investigation into the matter. According to police reports released post-investigation, neighbors mentioned hearing the woman scream on the night of her tragic demise.

Further investigation by the police revealed that the assailant drove roughly 30 miles north of the crime scene to Juva, where he ignited a barn. A nearby resident who noticed the fire approached the scene and witnessed the perpetrator emerging from the barn before advancing towards them with open arms. The suspect was subsequently transported to a hospital after sustaining injuries from the incident and later succumbed to them.

Finnish Criminal Inspector Marfa Raipela, who spearheaded the inquiry, disclosed that the perpetrator was not known to law enforcement prior to the heinous act and confirmed that the incident was not classified as a terror-related offense.

The investigation unveiled that the perpetrator traveled from Imatra, situated near the Russian border, approximately 66 kilometers north to Puumala on the day preceding the murder. Raipela stated that the culprit did not engage with anyone in the town before committing the crime.

Law enforcement theorizes that the assailant targeted the victim’s residence due to its accessibility and the fact that it was the only property illuminated at the time of the incident. Nonetheless, authorities have yet to establish a clear motive behind the shocking crime.

The Finnish police have closed the case as the sole suspect in the case, the deceased assailant, is no longer alive.
