Anthony Joshua has successfully met the weight requirement for his upcoming bout against Jake Paul, a significant two weeks ahead of schedule.
The former two-time heavyweight champion has been out of action since his defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, where he suffered a knockout in the fifth round. Following some minor injuries from that fight, Joshua took a break to recover before undergoing elbow surgery.
After recuperating, Joshua returned to training and is now preparing to face Jake Paul in a professional heavyweight showdown on December 19 in Miami. The fight will consist of eight three-minute rounds, with both fighters using 10oz gloves.
Despite initial concerns about Joshua having to cut weight to meet the 245lb limit, he revealed his current weight of 244.7Ib, alleviating worries within the boxing community. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that Joshua is in excellent shape and fully focused on the upcoming fight.
A victory in this bout could set Joshua up for an exciting 2026, potentially including a showdown with Tyson Fury. Plans are also in motion for Joshua to participate in significant events in London next year, with the possibility of a major fight in September.
The highly-anticipated clash between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul will take place in Miami on December 19, just before Christmas. The fight is scheduled to be broadcast live on Netflix. Joshua and Paul are expected to enter the ring around 11 pm local time, catering to the American audience, with the event subject to any changes based on the undercard duration.
