King Charles led a nearly full group of royal family members to church on Christmas morning as part of the Firm’s annual festive traditions. Walking from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene’s Church, the King was accompanied by the Queen, Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh for the special service.
Even Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, along with their spouses, chose to participate in the celebrations, despite their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, not being present. However, another beloved family member absent from the Sandringham gathering this year was Peter Phillips.
The son of Princess Anne opted not to join his royal relatives, including his sister Zara Tindall, for Christmas day, as he decided to spend the holiday with his fiancée Harriet Sperling and her family.
Harriet, an NHS nurse, had to work last Christmas but this year, the couple decided to have a quiet Christmas together away from the public eye.
Peter, the King’s oldest nephew, announced his engagement to Harriet in August after a year of dating, with both the King and Prince William expressing their happiness for the couple.
Previously married to Autumn Kelly, with two daughters, Peter dated Lindsay Wallace before finding love with Harriet. The couple made their public debut over a year ago at the Badminton Horse Trials and have been seen at various social events together, including Wimbledon and Royal Ascot.
Meanwhile, Queen Camilla’s children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes, and their families were also missing from the Sandringham celebrations this year, as they had decided to alternate their attendance at the royal residence on Christmas.
