Nicola Golen came through with a crucial goal just two minutes into extra time, securing a 2-2 draw for Ottawa Rapid against AFC Toronto on Sunday at TD Place. The league leaders, Rapid, earned an important point with Golen’s equalizer in the 92nd minute. Melanie Forbes also found the back of the net for Ottawa (10-2-3) in the 13th minute.
Sarah Stratigakis and Shelina Zadorsky answered back for third-placed Toronto (7-4-4). The match took a turn in the 63rd minute when both teams were reduced to 10 players following red cards shown to Choo Hyojoo of Rapid and Cloey Uddenberg of AFC Toronto.
Earlier in the day, it was revealed that TD Place in Ottawa will serve as the host venue for the upcoming Northern Super League final on November 14.
