Macklemore’s recently announced tour aimed at supporting Palestinians has proven to be a huge success, with all three scheduled shows selling out rapidly. The Grammy-winning artist unveiled the Free Palestine tour with dates set for Dublin, Paris, and London just a week ago.

While the lineup for the shows remains undisclosed, Macklemore mentioned in the initial announcement that the performances would feature him “and friends,” with further details on who will be joining him expected to be revealed soon.

The European tour was introduced after Macklemore was removed as the opening act for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. tour. Expressing his gratitude for the swift sellouts, Macklemore shared his excitement on Instagram, emphasizing the importance of musicians uniting in support of Palestine.

Despite inquiries about potential shows in Canada, Macklemore’s representatives have not responded. The concerts, organized in collaboration with Live Nation, aim to raise funds for various Palestinian aid organizations, including Gaza Soup Kitchen, Palestinian Youth Movement, Jewish Voice for Peace, and UNRWA USA.

The decision to drop Macklemore from Sheeran’s tour was influenced by threats from venue owners in the U.S. who objected to the rapper’s pro-Palestinian stance. Sheeran later addressed the issue, revealing that figures like Robert Kraft, chairman of The Kraft Group, played a role in the decision.

Macklemore, known for his longstanding support of Palestinian causes, has reiterated his views on multiple occasions. Following the controversy, all other opening acts, including Sheeran’s backing band, withdrew from the tour. Sheeran himself clarified his stance during a show in Philadelphia, expressing his inclination to avoid being an activist musician.

Ultimately, the shows at Gillette Stadium were canceled due to adverse weather conditions, marking a tumultuous turn of events for the tour.
