A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted in a prominent town center street, where police were seen cordoning off an area outside a bustling pub.
Authorities were informed of the incident occurring outside a commercial establishment on Bethlehem Street, Grimsby, around 5 am on Saturday. Police tape was seen outside The Haven Arms on the same street.
Humberside Police has verified the arrest of a 27-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault, who is currently detained by the authorities.
Police disclosed that specialized teams have been scrutinizing CCTV footage and obtaining witness statements, conducting thorough investigations into the matter.
Detective Inspector Mark Hawley from Humberside Police emphasized the gravity of the situation, assuring the community of their diligent approach towards such reports.
He stated, “We are treating this incident with utmost seriousness and have been actively pursuing leads, including reviewing CCTV footage, gathering witness accounts, and reaching out to the victim for a comprehensive understanding of the situation.”
Following initial investigations, the arrest of the 27-year-old suspect was announced, urging any potential witnesses to step forward promptly.
