“Manhunt underway for escaped prisoner Mahad Elmi in Buckinghamshire”

A manhunt is underway for an escaped prisoner from an open prison in Buckinghamshire. Mahad Elmi, 27, did not return to HMP Springhill near Grendon Underwood after leaving overnight or early on Friday morning. Thames Valley Police have advised the public not to approach him and to contact authorities immediately if he is spotted. Elmi, a black man with medium build, is around 5ft 8in tall with black hair, a beard, and brown eyes. He has connections to south-west London.

Detective Sergeant Matthew French from the Priority Crime Team has asked for public assistance in locating Elmi, who is considered “unlawfully at large.” If seen, individuals are urged not to approach him but to call 999. Any information on Elmi’s whereabouts should be reported to the authorities quoting reference number 43250653119.

HMP Springhill, an open Category D men’s prison in Buckinghamshire, allows eligible inmates to leave for work or education during the day. The facility houses approximately 335 prisoners, according to reports.
