A mother tragically lost her life after a hit-and-run incident involving her ex-boyfriend, who dragged her along the road with his car. Lúcia Aparecida da Silva, the mother of 31-year-old Tainara Souza Santos, expressed relief that her daughter’s suffering had ended and emphasized the need for justice after Tainara passed away in a Sao Paulo hospital on December 24.
Tainara, who was struck by a car in Brazil, underwent surgeries to amputate her legs and treat her back injuries but unfortunately succumbed to her severe condition. She leaves behind a 12-year-old son and a seven-year-old daughter.
The suspect, Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, who had a brief relationship with the victim, has been in custody since November 30, and authorities are now investigating the incident as a murder case. Tainara was hit by a Volkswagen Golf in the northern part of Sao Paulo after leaving a bar with friends in the early hours of November 29.
According to a friend of Tainara, Letícia Conceição, the suspect had a confrontation with Tainara outside the bar following an earlier incident of jealousy. Allegedly, Alves da Silva then got into his car and deliberately drove at Tainara, trapping her underneath the vehicle. Despite rescue attempts by bystanders, the suspect fled the scene, resulting in Tainara’s severe injuries. Following his arrest, Alves da Silva attempted to grab a police officer’s gun and was subsequently shot.
Tainara’s mother, Lucia, took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the support received and to call for justice in the wake of her daughter’s tragic passing. She mourned the loss of her “little warrior” and emphasized the need for accountability in the face of this devastating event.
