Eight individuals were swiftly transported to a medical facility following reports of a large-scale stabbing incident at a manufacturing plant in Japan. Law enforcement hurried to the Yokohama Rubber Factory in Mishima after receiving information that a man unlawfully entered the premises and attacked “five or six people” while also pouring a liquid on them. This alarming event took place at approximately 4:30 pm local time on Boxing Day. The fire department disclosed that a total of 15 individuals sustained injuries, with six of them being hospitalized and eight receiving on-site medical attention.
Authorities revealed that all 15 victims are conscious, with eight individuals having been stabbed and six reportedly exposed to an unidentified liquid. The severity of their injuries has not been fully determined as per NHK News. The alleged perpetrator has been apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder, and an investigation into the matter is currently in progress, as stated by the police.
Detectives have identified the suspect as a male in his 30s with ties to the factory. Situated in a residential neighborhood approximately 2 kilometers southeast of Mishima’s primary train station, the Yokohama Rubber factory spans around 112,000 square meters and specializes in the production of tires for both passenger vehicles and trucks. The company boasted a workforce of over 980 employees as of December last year.
