Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have spoken out following their disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where both McLaren drivers were penalized. Norris claimed second place behind Max Verstappen, with Piastri finishing fourth. However, both cars failed technical inspections post-race due to excessive skid-block wear, nullifying their results and shaking up the championship race with only two races left.

As a result of the disqualification, Norris now holds a 24-point lead over Piastri and Verstappen. Norris expressed disappointment over the outcome, attributing it to car issues and stressing the team’s focus on delivering a strong performance in the upcoming Qatar race.

Piastri also expressed frustration over the disqualification, emphasizing the need to regroup and maximize points in the remaining races. McLaren issued an apology to both drivers, clarifying that the breach in regulations was unintentional and caused by unexpected car behavior during the race.

The FIA scrutineers found that the skid thickness beneath the McLaren cars was below the required minimum of 9mm, indicating a potential violation of ride height regulations. This discovery led to the disqualification of both cars from the race results.
