“On The Beach Offers Rainy Day Refund for Summer Holidays”

Share

January marks the beginning of Britons’ summer holiday planning, envisioning relaxing under the sun after enduring the winter months. However, even in popular European vacation spots, sunny weather is not always guaranteed. To address this, On The Beach, an online travel agent, is offering free Weather Protection on select summer packages to uplift the spirits of holidaymakers affected by bad weather.

For those booking a three-star holiday with On The Beach on specific dates in 2026, a rainy day guarantee is provided. If rainfall exceeds a certain limit set by On The Beach and persists for two or more days, travelers will receive a £50 refund per rainy day, up to a maximum claim of £300. This refund can be used for indoor activities or towards another vacation.

To claim this benefit, travelers must download the On The Beach app after booking an eligible trip. The app allows users to check eligibility for a Rainy Day Refund in case of wet weather and guides them through the claiming process. Destinations eligible for Weather Protection include popular summer resorts in Greece, Portugal, Spain (including the Balearics and Canary Islands), and Turkey. Bookings must be made at least 60 days in advance for a minimum stay of seven nights to qualify for this perk.

The guarantee defines a rainy day as having rainfall of 2.9 millimeters or more between 10 am and 6 pm. It only covers the area where the traveler is staying, excluding day trips. Additionally, On The Beach offers various perks with summer 2026 bookings, such as free lounge access for five-star breaks and free gadget insurance for four-star holidays.

While the promoted locations are typically dry and sunny during peak season, they are not immune to extreme weather events. Unusual storms hit popular tourist areas of Spain in July 2025, with hailstorms in the Murcia region turning streets white and amber weather alerts issued in Catalonia, including Barcelona. Some regions experienced flooding, causing flight delays and travel warnings from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
