“Popular Freevee Streaming App Shuts Down, Content Moves to Prime Video”

Share

A popular streaming app known for offering free access to a diverse range of content has officially shut down, causing inconvenience for owners of Fire TV Sticks and similar devices. Amazon’s Freevee platform, a well-liked service among users seeking to avoid monthly subscription fees, has transitioned its extensive content library to Prime Video starting September 1.

Previously, users enjoyed shows like Jury Duty, Alex Rider, Bosch: Legacy, and Hell’s Kitchen USA without any cost, supported by advertisements. Now, Freevee customers must switch to the Prime Video app and sign in using their Amazon account to access the shows, movies, and Live TV previously available on Freevee.

The Freevee app will remain accessible until August 2025, allowing users to continue watching their favorite Freevee Originals and a library of hit movies and shows on Prime Video at no extra charge. While the transition maintains the free viewing experience, users will encounter box sets and movies that require a Prime subscription or a one-time fee.

This strategic shift may encourage former Freevee users to subscribe to Prime Video or opt for movie rentals. For existing Prime Video account holders, this change simplifies content browsing by consolidating Amazon’s offerings into a single app.
