American rapper Rick Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, was taken into custody in Miami Beach on charges of battery related to an alleged domestic violence incident, as per local authorities. The online court records indicate that Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor battery charge. He was subsequently released from jail upon posting a cash bond.

According to reports, an unnamed woman informed local detectives that she was assaulted by Ross on August 28 while living with him. She claimed Ross accused her of infidelity and proceeded to physically assault her multiple times. The woman further alleged that Ross strangled her with her shirt collar and forcefully pushed her into a wall.

The incident was reported on Tuesday, leading to Ross turning himself in at the local police station on Thursday morning. In an Instagram story shared from a car on the same day, Ross vehemently denied the allegations, labeling them as “fabricated.”

In a statement provided to CBC News, Ross’s legal representatives asserted his innocence and revealed that he has pleaded not guilty to the charges. They urged the public, including his supporters and fans, to withhold judgment and let the legal process unfold.

Ross gained prominence as a Miami-based rapper in the 2000s, achieving success with his debut single “Hustlin'” in 2006 and later signing with Jay Z’s label Def Jam Records. His inaugural album, “Port of Miami,” debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2008, he established his own label, Maybach Music Group, which has signed artists such as Meek Mill and French Montana.

An arraignment for this case has been scheduled for October 22. If you or someone you know is experiencing intimate partner violence or in immediate danger, please contact 911 or seek assistance from crisis lines and local support services.
