Known for her debut album “Tell Somebody” in 1988, Jordan was recognized as the most promising female vocalist of the year at the 1989 Juno Awards. Her second album, “Racine,” released in 1992, featured hits like “Make You a Believer.” Throughout her career, she received multiple nominations for the Juno Award for Best Female Vocalist and also served as a judge on all six seasons of “Canadian Idol.”

Born on December 23, 1960, in Birmingham, England, Jordan was raised in Montreal. Geoff Kulawick, the former president of Stony Plain Records, where Jordan released her last two albums, described her as a courageous and striking artist. Her 2020 album, “Rebel Moon Blues,” and her 2022 album, “Bitches Blues,” were recorded with her husband Derek Sharp during her time at Stony Plains.

Kulawick expressed his admiration for Jordan’s talent, emphasizing her ability to convey powerful emotions through her voice, which earned her a dedicated fan base. Canadian producer and songwriter Derek Downham recalled his fond memories of Jordan, highlighting her vibrant personality and humor. Downham mentioned their collaboration at a charity concert in Montreal, where Jordan’s infectious laughter left a lasting impression.

As one of the few female figures in the rock music scene during her early days, Jordan played a pivotal role in paving the way for other women in a predominantly male-dominated industry. Downham praised her resilience and determination, noting how she defied the challenges of her time to establish herself as a strong female presence in rock music.

Jordan’s legacy as a trailblazer and her unwavering passion for music continue to inspire aspiring artists. Downham expressed his hope that Jordan’s impact on the music industry will be remembered for her leadership and love for her craft.
