Russia has revealed its powerful nuclear-capable Oreshnik missile complex in Belarus, marking its first deployment in the country. This complex is said to have the capability to reach London within eight minutes from its current location. The Belarus defense ministry confirmed that the Oreshnik missile division has commenced combat patrol duties across designated areas in Belarus.

The Oreshnik system, under the direct control of President Vladimir Putin, is designed to engage targets up to a range of 5,000 km and can carry both conventional and special warheads. It has the flexibility to be launched from any point along its combat patrol route.

Belarus military expert Andrey Bogodel emphasized that the Oreshnik is not intended for offensive actions against countries like Britain or Germany. Instead, it signifies a defensive stance by Moscow and Minsk, showcasing their readiness to protect their peace and deter any interference.

The deployment of the Oreshnik system in Belarus, close to EU and NATO territories, has put European capitals, including London, within its range. Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence in the system, although its operational use remains under Putin’s authority.

The Oreshnik missile could hit London in a mere eight minutes from Belarus, a significantly shorter timeframe compared to its previous launch site in southern Russia. Putin has utilized this nuclear-capable weapon only once in a test launch against a Ukrainian city, demonstrating its potential impact without a live warhead.

Lukashenko emphasized the importance of strength, stating that being strong commands respect in all circumstances.
