Ben Dowie, a 28-year-old from Carnoustie near Angus, disappeared after his creel boat got stuck on Inverbervie Beach in Aberdeenshire on December 20. Dowie, known for lobster fishing in Arbroath aboard his Sea Eagle AH18 boat, has not been located since the incident.
Following the discovery of Dowie’s unmanned boat, a large-scale search operation was launched, involving Police Scotland and various aircraft, including a search helicopter. Coastguard teams from Montrose, Stonehaven, Arbroath, and Aberdeen, as well as RNLI units from Arbroath, Montrose, and Stonehaven, along with local fishing vessels, participated in the search efforts. Despite physical searches being suspended, the search for Dowie is ongoing, now in its ninth day.
Police Scotland confirmed that the case of the missing fisherman remains open.
