An ITV News presenter struggled to maintain her balance amidst Storm Goretti’s fierce winds. The UK faces severe weather conditions with the Met Office issuing a rare red warning for the approaching “weather bomb”. Numerous flights have been canceled nationwide, along with train services and road closures due to the storm’s impact.

During the escalating storm, ITV News reporters covered heavily affected regions such as the Peak District, Mid Wales, Jersey, and Cornwall. In a recent ITV News at Six broadcast, reporter Sangita Lal from the West of England found it challenging to stand firm in the strong winds.

National anchor Charlene White introduced the weather segment, mentioning reporters dispersed across the country, starting with Sangita. Battling the elements, Sangita noted the increasingly strong winds, expected to reach 40 mph, making it difficult to remain stable.

She warned of the imminent rise in wind speeds, coupled with concerns of coastal flooding during high tide. Anticipated waves reaching six meters across the Channel could impact power lines, with affected individuals advised to contact 105. The broadcast then shifted to Whys Williams in Brecon, Mid Wales, as Sangita struggled against the gusts.

Further coverage included Jonathan Brown in Hathersage, who reported snowfall and impending heavier snow in the Peak District. He highlighted the closure of the Manchester to Sheffield rail route by TransPennine Express, along with shut high-altitude roads in the Peaks.

The Met Office extended warnings post-broadcast, issuing Yellow alerts for snow and ice in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and the Midlands. Wintry showers are forecasted to affect the region from Friday evening to Saturday morning, prompting caution for icy surfaces and potential snow accumulation.

Viewers were informed of potential hazardous conditions by the Met Office, emphasizing the need for vigilance in the impacted areas. For more entertainment news, follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Threads.
